Far Niente and its sister wineries are owned by longtime friends and partners Beth Nickel, Erik Nickel, Jeremy Nickel, Dirk Hampson and Larry Maguire.
Beth Nickel, Owner
As the Proprietress of Napa Valley wineries Far Niente, Dolce, Nickel & Nickel and EnRoute in the Russian River Valley, Beth Nickel is involved in the wineries’ marketing and public relations programs, interior and landscape design projects, and she serves as a winery spokesperson at local and national events.
Erik Nickel, Owner
Oklahoma native Erik Nickel spent a good deal of time growing up around the wine business, due to the influence of his uncle, Gil Nickel, proprietor of Far Niente. But with a keen interest in architecture and historic restoration, Erik never envisioned a wine industry career. Yet today, Erik is a partner in Napa Valley wineries Far Niente, Dolce, Nickel & Nickel and EnRoute in the Russian River Valley.
Jeremy Nickel, Owner
Jeremy Nickel was born in Dallas, Texas in 1977. He attended school in San Francisco, but when school was out of session, home was the north wing of the old stone building in Oakville, known as Far Niente winery, where his father, Gil Nickel, and stepmother, Beth, resided. Jeremy graduated from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, then returned to Napa Valley and worked at Far Niente's sister winery, Nickel & Nickel, during its opening year in 2003.
Dirk Hampson, Owner, Director of Winemaking and Chairman
Few winemakers realize the opportunity to build a winemaking program from the ground up, living and growing with the vineyards over two decades. Dirk Hampson, chairman and director of winemaking at Napa Valley wineries Dolce, Nickel & Nickel and Far Niente, and EnRoute in the Russian River Valley, counts himself among the fortunate.
Larry Maguire, Owner, President and CEO
With over 30 years of professional experience in the premium wine industry, Larry Maguire brings a wealth of knowledge and insight to his role as partner and president of Far Niente, and partner in sister wineries Dolce, Nickel & Nickel in Napa Valley and EnRoute in the Russian River Valley.
