Cameo Appearance

Harvest may be a great time to visit Napa Valley but what are you going to do when you aren’t visiting wineries or eating at great restaurants?

Maybe you should try going to the movies! Sure, you have the same movies playing at home, but do you have The Cameo? (Notice that it is singular. It is not a multiplex.) This is the type of theater that added to the mystic of films and the stars in them. It is traditional, intimate, comfortable, local and full of heart. Its seats are comfortable too.

Last time I was in, they were playing “Julie & Julia.” Seems like the right sort of a movie for a place that is overrun by foodies and it gave me a chance to again realize how little I know about blogging. (I don’t actually know how to post this, but I can proudly take credit for the bad grammar and mediocre typing.)

Brief review: I read the book and the movie is better. Nora Ephron’s writing works and Meryl Streep IS Julia Child. It is almost scary how she captures Julia Child and brings back the days when we used to see Julia cooking on TV. There were lots of laughs throughout the theater (LOL).

The only problem is afterwards, theatergoers have an over whelming urge to go to a French restaurant and have daube de boeuf or coq au vin (without accordion music).  (You can do that at Bistro Jeanty – we did.)

Partway through harvest is a great time for taking a break. Try the Cameo. I think that they have Toy Story 3D playing right now.
